Horse Rescue Operator Stephanie Redlick Faces 13 Animal Welfare Charges After Investigation

Stephanie Redlick, operator of Above The Stars Equine Rescue, faces 13 charges under the Provincial Animal Welfare Services Act related to alleged neglect and mistreatment of horses. Following an investigation and a February 6 visit by Animal Welfare Services (AWS), 16 horses were seized from Redlick’s properties due to poor conditions including malnourishment, untreated medical issues, and severe neglect. stable manager Corey Warren described the horses as suffering from infected wounds, parasites, and poor hygiene, with one horse, a thoroughbred mare named Midnight, ultimately euthanized due to her critical condition.

Additionally, Redlick had solicited donations claiming Above The Stars was a registered charity, but Canadian authorities confirmed it is not registered with the Canada Revenue Agency or other official bodies. After this was reported, the rescue’s website removed references to charitable status. The charges against Redlick remain before the courts, and she is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
