Horse Named Mitchell Rescued from River Stour in Worcestershire

A horse named Mitchell was rescued after slipping into the fast-flowing River Stour in Worcestershire on February 22. Firefighters from Wyre Forest, Worcester, and Bromyard stations responded to the incident and, following advice from a vet, sedated Mitchell so he could be safely lifted out of the water using a telehandler operated by a nearby farmer.

After being rescued, Mitchell was kept warm with rugs and was able to walk back to his stable about 30 minutes later. The rescue team praised the collaborative effort that led to the successful and challenging rescue operation.
