Hope Rescue Faces Crisis After 20 Years Caring for Stray Dogs in South Wales

Hope Rescue, a charity operating across south Wales for 20 years, is urgently appealing for support to continue its vital work caring for stray, abandoned, and vulnerable dogs. The organization takes in all stray dogs from six local authorities regardless of their condition but is now facing financial difficulties as rising costs for vet bills, utilities, and other expenses have outpaced its income. CEO Vanessa Waddon expressed deep concern that without immediate help, the charity may have to cut essential services, including its lifeline to unclaimed strays from several local pounds.

Despite efforts to reduce costs and raise funds, Hope Rescue is at a breaking point and has launched a crisis appeal to keep its doors open. The charity supports some of the most vulnerable dogs in the region, including those rescued from illegal breeders, and last year alone cared for 137 unclaimed strays from local pounds. Donations are urgently needed to prevent the reduction of services and ensure the continued care of dogs who have no one else to turn to.
