HOPE Equestrian Center in Eagle Point, Oregon, held its second annual ‘Race for HOPE Derby Night’ fundraiser to support its mission of providing therapeutic horseback riding to individuals with special needs in Southern Oregon. Founded in 1988, the nonprofit offers nearly year-round riding programs and educational camps that help clients achieve goals once thought unattainable. The event featured a virtual horse race, Derby-themed attire, food, drinks, a silent auction, and a wine raffle, with all proceeds going toward maintaining and improving the riding facility.
The center serves around 60 to 65 clients weekly and provides necessary equipment like helmets and boots to participants. Fundraisers and community donations enable HOPE to offer services to families with limited financial resources. Executive Director Angie Ballard expressed pride in the rewarding nature of the work and the positive connections formed between horses and riders, emphasizing the center as a welcoming and joyful place for all involved.
