Hong Kong Jockey Club to Host First Race Meeting at New Conghua Racecourse in Guangdong on October 31, 2026

The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) will hold its inaugural race meeting at the new Conghua Racecourse in Guangdong Province, mainland China, on 31 October 2026. The event will feature five or six races and is part of a broader plan to establish regular racing meetings, contingent on the release of China’s new five-year National Equine Industry Plan expected in early 2026. Conghua Racecourse, built on the former 2010 Asian Games equestrian site, is a world-class facility with extensive infrastructure including stables, training tracks, quarantine areas, and spectator stands, addressing space limitations faced in Hong Kong.

Originally scheduled for April 2026, the opening was postponed to ensure full completion of construction. The initial race meeting will be a private event with invited guests, while the second meeting in late November will mark the public launch of top-tier racing in mainland China. Spanning 150 hectares—twice the size of Hong Kong’s Sha Tin Racecourse—Conghua already played a significant role last season, being used by 37% of HKJC runners, signaling its importance in the club’s future racing and training operations.
