The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has confirmed that the inaugural race meeting at its new Conghua Racecourse in mainland China will take place on October 31, 2026. Originally planned for April 2025, the opening was delayed to complete construction and align with China’s forthcoming five-year National Equine Industry Plan expected in March 2026. The initial event will feature a small number of invited guests, with a larger public launch scheduled for November 2026. Conghua, located 150km north of Hong Kong and spanning 150 hectares, has served as a key training facility for Hong Kong trainers since its use in the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.
In addition to the racecourse, the HKJC has acquired land for an equine transfer centre near Conghua, aimed at facilitating horse imports and potentially supporting a breeding industry in China. This quarantine station is expected to be operational by April 2027. The Club’s strategic developments at Conghua mark a significant step in establishing world-class horse racing and equine industry infrastructure in mainland China.
