Hong Kong Equestrian Team Aims for Historic Medal Haul at National Games

A record 11 Hong Kong riders will compete across all three equestrian disciplines—dressage, show jumping, and eventing—at this year’s National Games held at the Guangming International Equestrian Centre in Shenzhen. Hong Kong has a history of success with six medals since 1997, including one gold, the only gold outside cycling. Eventer Thomas Ho, returning after eight years, feels better prepared thanks to recent championships and a test event in Shenzhen, boosting his confidence for the competition.

Veteran rider Jacqueline Lai aims to complete her National Games medal set, having previously won bronze and silver in team and individual jumping events. Despite leasing a horse with limited time to build rapport, Lai is confident her experience will help her quickly establish a strong partnership. The equestrian events run until November 19, with six gold medals available, as Hong Kong riders strive to achieve their best results yet.
