The American and British eventing associations have formalized a landmark partnership after a decade of discussions, solidified during the 2024 Badminton Horse Trials in England. USEA CEO Rob Burk and British Eventing CEO Rosie Williams aim to collaborate on growing the sport globally by sharing best practices in education, training, volunteer management, and IT systems. The partnership focuses on developing young and adult riders, enhancing volunteer programs, and facilitating knowledge exchange, including pilot projects like a volunteer exchange program and course-designer training.
This alliance also seeks to ease international competition for riders, exemplified by the USEA’s Wilton Fair Fund grants that support young U.S. riders relocating to Europe for training and competition. Both leaders emphasize mutual learning, with the U.S. benefiting from Britain’s deep eventing expertise and Britain gaining from U.S. technological innovations. The collaboration promises to strengthen eventing in both countries by fostering shared resources, improving accessibility, and supporting athletes across all levels.
