Herb Cox, Former MLA and Community Leader, Passes Away After Courageous Battle with Cancer

Herb Cox, a dedicated family man, community leader, and politician, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, after a courageous 14-year battle with bone cancer. Born in Brandon, Manitoba, in 1950, Herb built a successful 38-year career in real estate in Battleford, Saskatchewan, and was deeply passionate about horses and outdoor activities. He married his wife Linda in 1977, with whom he raised three children and cherished seven grandchildren. Herb was known for his integrity, strong work ethic, and commitment to fostering opportunities in Saskatchewan to keep future generations close to home.

In 2011, the same week he was diagnosed with cancer, Herb was elected as the MLA for the Battlefords, serving for nine years in various roles including Minister of Environment and Minister of Advanced Education. Despite his illness, he remained active in politics and community life, demonstrating resilience and positivity. Herb is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and many other family members. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 28, 2025, in North Battleford, with memorial donations suggested for the Battlefords Healthcare Foundation.
