A 24-year-old woman was airlifted to safety after sustaining a moderate lower limb injury while hiking the trail between Afur and Taborno in Tenerife’s Anaga mountain range. The rescue operation, conducted by the Canary Islands Emergency and Rescue Group (GES), involved a helicopter retrieval and subsequent transfer to the HUC Hospital via ambulance for further treatment.
Authorities emphasized the challenging nature of Anaga’s terrain, advising hikers to wear suitable footwear, carry water, assess their fitness for the route, check trail difficulty beforehand, and avoid hiking alone to ensure safety in this rugged natural area.
