The 2025 Royal Welsh Winter Fair introduces a new feature area in the Farriery Pavilion celebrating iconic countryside animals, notably Heavy Horses and the Hound Show. Building on the success of the Heavy Horse Village from earlier events, this area will showcase breeds like Shires, Clydesdales, and Suffolk Punch—once vital to agriculture and transport but now at risk of extinction—alongside Miniature Horses, highlighting their heritage and ongoing importance. Live farriery demonstrations will also take place, emphasizing the traditional craft of horseshoe-making and equine care.
The Hound Show, held nearby on Monday, will feature local Welsh hunt packs competing in various classes, preserving the legacy and skills associated with working hounds. Rhys Griffith, the outgoing Caernarfon Feature County Ambassador, expressed enthusiasm for promoting these animals and crafts, hoping to inspire visitors, especially children. This combined exhibit offers a unique educational experience about rural life’s history and traditions, making it a key attraction at the Winter Fair.
