Harvest Festival Celebrations Highlight Turkmenistan’s Agricultural Prosperity and Cultural Traditions

On November 9, Ashgabat celebrated the Harvest Festival along the Karakum River embankment, honoring the generosity of Turkmenistan’s land and national prosperity. The event was attended by high-ranking officials, diplomats, agricultural workers, and community leaders. Festivities included traditional treats, performances by pop singers and creative groups, and the presentation of a prized Ahal-Teke horse to the President. An open-air exhibition showcased achievements in agriculture, cotton production, livestock, land reclamation, and related industries, highlighting both state and private sector successes.

The celebration also featured traditional Turkmen cuisine prepared in cauldrons near yurts, alongside competitions in national sports such as goresh wrestling, tug-of-war, and board games like chess and checkers. Regional events complemented the main festival with meetings, concerts, and cultural activities honoring leading agricultural workers, reinforcing the country’s appreciation for its agricultural heritage and community spirit.
