Harness Races Kick Off at Allen County Fair with Dunlap-Renner Memorial Pace

Harness races kicked off Monday evening at the Allen County Fair in Lima, Ohio, drawing many fairgoers who placed bets and cheered on horses competing in one-mile pace or trot races on the grandstands’ dirt track. The highlight was the Dunlap-Renner Memorial Signature Series Pace featuring eight horses, with programs sold to support the Lima Noon Sertoma Club. The event is a cherished tradition, offering a family-friendly, free activity enjoyed by campers and farmers attending the fair.

Jenny Holtsberry, Chairperson for the Harness Races, noted that the races have been a staple for over 25 years, providing quick, entertaining races that families can easily watch together. The harness racing continues Tuesday evening with events including the Ohio Ladies Pace and the Allen County Supertrot, maintaining the longstanding community tradition.
