The Haras de Cercy stud in Burgundy has made a significant investment to maintain the legacy of the late stallion Voix Du Nord by acquiring his son Chanducoq for €450,000 at the Arqana Autumn Sale. Chanducoq, a promising young stallion and half-brother to Cercy’s established sire Cokorico, has already produced winners including Grade 3 hurdler Rooster Crowing. Cercy chairman Jacques Cypres emphasized the rarity and value of the Voix Du Nord bloodline for jumps breeding, with plans to syndicate Chanducoq while keeping a major share at the stud.
The sale also highlighted strong demand for well-bred broodmares and bloodlines linked to successful jump racing families. Notable transactions included Verona Du Berlais, a mare related to Grade 1 winner Toscana Du Berlais, sold for €210,000, and two daughters of the producer No News, sold for €90,000 and €150,000 respectively. The market showed selectivity with a clearance rate of 63.59%, but average and median prices rose significantly, contributing to a total turnover of over €17 million—up 40% from the previous year—reflecting robust interest in quality breeding stock and foals.
