Gunmen Kill Eight NSCDC Officers, Abduct Chinese National in Edo State Attack

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers attacked a convoy of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Okpella, Edo State, killing eight officers and critically injuring four others. During the ambush, one Chinese national working with the BUA Cement Company was abducted. The NSCDC team had been deployed to provide security for expatriates in the area when the heavily armed assailants launched the attack.

In response, the NSCDC condemned the attack and vowed to continue their mission of protecting national assets and infrastructure. The commandant-general assured that security agencies are actively combing the forests in Etsako East to rescue the abducted expatriate and apprehend the perpetrators. The corps expressed solidarity with the families of the fallen officers and reaffirmed their commitment to their duties despite the attack.
