Gulfstream Park announced that starting after next week, its 2026 championship meet will follow a four-day racing schedule, running Thursday through Sunday with no races on Wednesdays. This change affects the meet running through March 29, although horses entered for the upcoming Wednesday will remain entered, and those races will stay open alongside the following Thursday’s races. The track had initially planned five days of racing per week, Wednesday through Sunday, after the first week of January.
Additionally, Gulfstream Park and the Florida Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association reached a three-year agreement to ensure stability for live Thoroughbred racing in Florida through 2028. The deal commits to running as much live racing as possible, contingent on maintaining commercially reasonable field sizes and purse account conditions.
