At the Grant County Fair in Moses Lake, attendees enjoyed a variety of exciting events including Demo Derbys featuring intense car crashes and local horse-riding competitions organized by the Grant County Youth Equine Program (GCYEP). This year, GCYEP had 50 riders participate, showcasing their skills in events such as equitation and bareback riding, with riders demonstrating control and command over their horses. Awards were given to standout participants, highlighting the competitive spirit and community involvement.
In addition to the equestrian events, the fair featured thrilling demolition derbies and dirt bike races, with young and adult competitors alike taking part. Notably, Vern Hellewell was honored as the first inductee into the Moses Lake Demo Derby Hall of Fame, recognizing his contributions to the sport. The event also included award presentations by local pageant queens, adding to the festive atmosphere of the fair.
