Governor Wes Moore Proclaims October 2025 as Maryland Horse Month with New Park System Website Launch

Governor Wes Moore has proclaimed October 2025 as the Fifth Annual Maryland Horse Month, celebrating the state’s horse industry for its vital economic, cultural, and environmental contributions. Organized by the Maryland Horse Industry Board, the month-long event will feature over 60 horse-related activities, including world-class competitions, jousting finals, rodeos, farm tours, and therapeutic riding exhibitions, attracting more than 100,000 visitors. Maryland’s horse industry boasts a $2.9 billion annual economic impact and supports over 28,000 jobs, with the state having the highest horse density in the nation.

In conjunction with the celebration, the MHIB launched MarylandHorsePark.org, a new digital platform promoting the Maryland Horse Park System and key equestrian destinations such as Fair Hill and the Prince George’s Equestrian Center. The site offers trail guides, event calendars, and tourism itineraries to encourage exploration of Maryland’s horse country. This initiative aims to enhance tourism, which significantly contributes to the state’s economy, with visitors spending $11.6 billion on travel-related expenses in 2020.
