The German Shepherd Rescue South held its first social walk of 2026 on January 4 at the Tidworth House Polo Grounds in Wiltshire, bringing together over a dozen German Shepherds and Malinois along with their owners. Organiser Katy Chignell praised the dogs and their humans for their behavior and generosity, with the event raising £128.83 to support dogs awaiting adoption. The walk was led by Max, a rescue dog who overcame a difficult past of neglect and lack of socialization to become a beloved companion, alongside Jax, another rescue who has made significant health and behavioral improvements after being fostered.
The charity thanked volunteers Julie Stoney and Mandy Robinson for their assistance and the Armed Forces Community Hub for hosting the event. Future social walks are scheduled for February 1, March 1, March 22, and March 29, 2026, with plans for scenic routes, refreshments, and raffles to continue supporting the rescue’s mission of finding forever homes for special dogs.
