German para dressage rider Elke Klein suffered minor injuries after falling off her horse, D’Noir, during the warm-up at the 2025 German Para dressage Championships in Balve on June 14. The 55-year-old fell when her horse spooked and spun around, causing her to lose balance. Although she was hospitalized and X-rayed, Klein sustained only bruises and no broken bones, but had to withdraw from the freestyle competition.
Klein, a Grade V para rider who began her international career in 2023, had finished 9th in the initial classification with a score of 60.854%. Formerly an animal physiotherapist and acupuncturist, she became a para rider after a knee injury in 2022 and now works in medical imaging. She is based in Ronneburg and trains at Hof Löwelsberg in Bad Orb.
