German Equestrian Federation Announces Team for 2025 CDIO Aachen FEI Nations Cup

The German Equestrian Federation has announced its team for the FEI Nations Cup leg at the 2025 CDIO Aachen, scheduled for July 2-6, 2025. The selection was primarily based on results from the recent German dressage Championships in Balve, which also serve as the first of two trials for the 2025 European dressage Championships in Crozet. The team for Aachen is expected to closely mirror the squad for Crozet, with two riders—Isabell Werth on Wendy and Frederic Wandres on Bluetooth—securing their spots, while Katharina Hemmer must demonstrate consistency to maintain her position. The fourth team spot remains open for competition.

The German riders competing in the CDIO tour include Katharina Hemmer (Denoix PCH), Sönke Rothenberger (Fendi), Frederic Wandres (Bluetooth OLD), and Isabell Werth (Wendy), with Matthias Rath (Destacado FRH) as reserve. Additionally, a larger group of riders will participate in the CDI tour, featuring notable names such as Anabel Balkenhol, Ingrid Klimke, and Jessica von Bredow-Werndl, among others. This selection process highlights Germany’s strategic approach to assembling a strong team for both the Aachen Nations Cup and the upcoming European Championships.
