Generous Donation from Freemasons Helps Unicorn Centre Buy New Horse

The Unicorn Centre in Hemlington, Middlesbrough, received a donation from the Freemasons to buy a new horse for their riding therapy and training programs for people with special educational needs and disabilities. The centre is part of the Riding for the Disabled Association, which uses horses to improve the physical and mental health of disabled individuals.

The donation was made by the Ferrum Masonic Lodge 1848, with support from the Freemasons Charity Yorkshire North and East Riding and the Masonic Charitable Foundation. The money will be used to find a suitable horse to add to the equine team at the Unicorn Centre, which is self-funded and relies on donations and fundraising to cover its annual costs.

The Unicorn Centre, established in 1998, offers therapy sessions, lessons, and activities for disabled individuals, as well as becoming dementia-friendly. Annual fundraising events and donations help support the centre’s operations, and they welcome visits from various children’s groups. The new horse will allow for further expansion of their activities and services.
