Gallop for Good Fundraiser Supports Xenophon Therapeutic Riding Center in Orinda

The “Gallop for Good” fundraiser held on September 21, 2025, at the Xenophon Therapeutic Riding Center in Orinda, California, attracted over 100 attendees dressed in Western attire to support the nonprofit’s mission of enriching the lives of adults and children with disabilities through equine-assisted therapies. Founded in 1993 by Judy Lazarus, Xenophon offers therapeutic horseback riding, physical and occupational therapy, and horsemanship lessons tailored to individual abilities. The event featured various horse-themed activities, including an inflatable horse race, horse painting, a horse-kissing booth, and a cheer performance by California High School’s squad, alongside a lunch of grilled burgers.

Under the leadership of Executive Director Mikha Diaz since April 2024, Xenophon continues to serve over 50 children weekly with eight horses on its leased 3-acre Orinda site. Event chair Kim Merkin expressed deep admiration for the transformative impact of Xenophon’s programs, which also assist veterans with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries. The fundraiser provided a meaningful opportunity to raise awareness and support for the center’s ongoing work. For more information or to donate, interested individuals are encouraged to visit Xenophon’s website.
