Full Moon Farm, a longstanding equestrian hub in Finksburg, MD, has launched the Full Moon Farm Eventing Foundation (FMFEF) in 2024 to make the sport of eventing more accessible and inclusive. Founded by Karen and Stephen Fulton, the nonprofit focuses on promoting good horsemanship, preventing marginalization, and fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the equestrian community. FMFEF supports riders from diverse socio-economic backgrounds through scholarships, community outreach, and educational programs, including a national award in partnership with the United States Eventing Association (USEA) for underrepresented riders.
The foundation’s impact is deeply rooted in its local community, offering fully-funded youth camps and hosting events like the annual Derby-Cross fundraiser. FMFEF also emphasizes creating a welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ equestrians through panels and listening sessions, aiming to build awareness and support. With a robust lesson and lease program and a calendar full of recognized and schooling events, Full Moon Farm and FMFEF work together to nurture riders at all levels, ensuring the sport’s growth and accessibility for future generations.
