Louise Harris, who moved from Norfolk County to Haldimand County about five years ago, balances life on a grain farm with active community volunteering. Despite the demands of farm work, she dedicates time to local organizations such as the Cayuga Food Bank, Selkirk Community Hall, Fisherville Lions, and Haldimand 4-H, continuing a lifelong connection to 4-H from her youth. Louise is also passionate about horses, having trained, shown, judged, and taught riding, though she now mostly enjoys trail riding with a small number of horses and a pony for her grandchildren.
In addition to her community and farm life, Louise enjoys sharing simple, easy recipes. She offers a customized bean salad recipe and a pumpkin pie recipe, the latter recommended by her husband Ron, who likes to add honey to his slice. Both recipes reflect her practical approach to cooking, emphasizing ease and flavor.
