From Newtown to Miami University: Clara D’Amico’s Journey to Equestrian Success

Clara D’Amico, a talented equestrian from Newtown, has taken her horse-riding skills to the collegiate level at Miami University in Ohio. She recently competed at the World Equestrian Center Ohio, winning the speed round and placing second in the classic, earning her Reserve Champion in the 1.10 division. D’Amico also competed at Midway University, where she was awarded Reserve High Point Rider and helped Miami University secure a first-place team finish.

D’Amico’s passion for horses and riding began at a young age, leading her to compete in hunter/jumper competitions and eventually join the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA). She continued to improve her skills and knowledge through various trainers and competitions, culminating in her Reserve Champion title at the IEA Nationals. D’Amico’s dedication to the sport and her training under Andre Dignelli at Heritage Farm in New York have propelled her to success in the equestrian world.

In addition to her success in competitions, D’Amico is pursuing a major in finance at Miami University and is considering a master’s degree. She is part of Miami’s competitive IHSA team and has received advice from IHSA founder Bob Cacchione. D’Amico continues to train with Heritage Farm and reflects on the growth she has experienced both as a rider and as a person. Her hard work and dedication have allowed her to achieve her goals in the equestrian world.
