Harvey, a cob colt abandoned and described as “completely feral,” was rescued by Alice Griffiths after being found alone following the death of his companion. Initially wild and unmanageable, Harvey had to be darted for sedation to be gelded, which marked a turning point in his behavior. Over time, Alice patiently worked with him, overcoming his quirks and sensitivities, and eventually began riding him. Despite early doubts and challenges, Harvey developed into a talented dressage horse, achieving notable success including winning the prelim freestyle at Suffolk Rural and competing in British dressage championships.
Alice describes Harvey as her “horse of a lifetime,” highlighting the emotional journey from rescue to competition. Though he remains a bit quirky and sensitive, their partnership has flourished, with Harvey demonstrating impressive movement and calmness in the arena. Alice’s dedication and Harvey’s transformation underscore the profound bond they share, making their achievements in dressage all the more rewarding.
