Franklin County 4-H Member Adrian Davis Wins First Place at 2025 All-American Quarter Horse Congress Communications Contest

Adrian Davis, a 4-H member from Franklin County, Pennsylvania, won first place in the Individual Presentation division at the 2025 All-American Quarter Horse Congress Communications Contest. She qualified with her presentation titled “An Inside Look at Colic,” which had previously earned first place in the Pennsylvania 4-H State Virtual Public Speaking and Presentations contest. Davis’s presentation focused on impaction colic in horses, detailing key steps for horse owners to identify symptoms, call a veterinarian, and implement preventative management. She uniquely demonstrated the condition using a homemade model of a horse’s pelvic flexure and explained veterinary treatment methods such as nasogastric tubing.

The competition featured youth from across the country, with very close scoring among the top contestants. Davis expressed pride in sharing her passion for horse health on a national stage and valued the opportunity to develop her public speaking skills through 4-H. The organization supports youth development by encouraging members to explore their interests and participate in county, state, and national events, offering valuable experiences like this communications contest.
