Forever Young, the Japanese champion racehorse, has dominated the Saudi Cup for the third consecutive year, securing a thrilling victory on February 14, 2026, at King Abdulaziz Racecourse. In a closely contested stretch duel, Forever Young, ridden by jockey Ryusei Sakai, edged out American contender Nysos by one length, earning the $10 million winner’s share. This win adds to Forever Young’s impressive record, including victories in the Japan Dirt Classic, Tokyo Daishoten, and the Breeders’ Cup Classic, solidifying his status as a global dirt racing powerhouse. Trainer Yoshito Yahagi expressed confidence in the horse’s performance despite him not being at 100%, while American trainer Bob Baffert, who has finished second in the Saudi Cup four times, remains determined to claim the elusive title.
Nysos, despite finishing second, showed strong form after overcoming career setbacks, coming into the race with seven wins from eight starts, including the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile. Baffert acknowledged the Saudi Cup as a missing achievement in his career and vowed to keep returning until he wins. Forever Young’s owner, Susumu Fujita, hinted at extending the horse’s racing career to potentially compete in another Saudi Cup, suggesting that the rivalry between Forever Young and Baffert’s contenders may continue in future editions of the race.
