Forever Young, trained by Yoshito Yahagi, is aiming to become the first dual winner of the Saudi Cup, having already made history with victories including the 2024 Saudi Derby, the UAE Derby, and last year’s Saudi Cup. With career earnings exceeding £15 million and notable performances such as third place in the Kentucky Derby and Breeders’ Cup Classic, Forever Young has established himself as a global racing star. Yahagi praised the horse’s suitability to the Saudi track and highlighted the strong partnership with jockey Ryusei Sakai, while also emphasizing the growing prominence and investment in Japanese horse racing.
Yahagi, who also trained Panthalassa to a Saudi Cup win in 2023, is targeting both the Saudi Cup and Dubai World Cup for Forever Young’s spring campaign, with autumn plans still under discussion. Additionally, Yahagi is preparing Shin Emperor to defend his title in the Neom Turf Cup, noting the horse’s continued improvement and suitability to the race conditions. Yahagi expressed his ambition to further develop Japanese racing, supported by strong fan engagement and investment from owners.
