Five Highland Charities to Benefit from Over £300,000 Raised by 2026 Highland Cross Event

The 2026 Highland Cross, a 50-mile midsummer duathlon across the Highlands, is set to raise over £300,000 for five selected charities following a rigorous independent selection process. Beneficiaries include Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team, which will receive a new 4×4 vehicle to enhance rescue operations; Glenurquhart Care Project, seeking a second people carrier to expand vital services for the elderly and vulnerable; and Highland Group Riding for the Disabled Association, which will acquire a mechanical horse to provide therapeutic riding experiences. Additionally, the Isobel Fraser Care Home and Skye and Lochalsh Young Carers will each receive minibuses to improve community access and support services.

The event, scheduled for June 20, will feature 265 teams undertaking the challenging run and cycle route, with all funds raised directly supporting these Highland organizations. Organizers emphasize the community effort behind the event and the significant impact the funds will have on enhancing local services, improving mobility, and supporting vulnerable populations across the region.
