First-Time Starter Gotta Lotta Tempo Euthanized After Injury at Keeneland

First-time starter Gotta Lotta Tempo was euthanized after sustaining a severe injury late in the sixth race at Keeneland. The incident occurred as she fell near the three-sixteenths pole during the 6 1/2-furlong sprint for maiden 2-year-old fillies. Both the horse and jockey Tyler Gaffalione were immediately attended to; Gaffalione was evaluated and cleared to ride, but due to the injury’s severity, humane euthanasia was chosen for the horse.

Gotta Lotta Tempo was owned by V12 Racing and Westlake Racing stable, trained by Robby Medina, and bred at Claiborne Farm in Kentucky. She was a $35,000 purchase at the Keeneland September yearling sale and had been training regularly since August. No specific details about the injury were disclosed.
