Vinny, a horse trapped in thick mud within a deep, water-filled ditch on Church Farm, Hoxne Road in Eye, was rescued by crews from Eye, Diss, and Princes Street in Ipswich. Upon arrival, Mid Suffolk Equine Vets confirmed that sedation was necessary for a safe rescue. Several specialist resources, including an all-terrain vehicle and a full water animal rescue team, supported the operation.
After sedation, firefighters used specialist animal rescue strops and a coordinated front-drag technique to free Vinny at 2:23 pm. Once safely on stable ground, Vinny was monitored as the sedation wore off and was then walked back into his warm stable.
