Firefighters Rescue Horse Stuck in Manure Pit in Lancaster County After Successful Training Drill

Firefighters from the Robert Fulton Fire Company in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, successfully rescued a horse that was stuck neck-deep in a manure pit on July 7, 2025. Using rescue slings and a crane truck, the crew lifted the horse out and cleared the scene within two hours, reporting that the horse was unharmed after the ordeal.

The fire company credited a prior mock rescue training session involving a dummy horse in March for helping them prepare for this real-life situation. Despite some public criticism about the training’s necessity, the firefighters emphasized that their preparation paid off, highlighting the importance of readiness for such emergencies. The training video had garnered over 1.2 million views on social media.
