A 22-year-old horse became trapped in a pond at Carbis Moor near St Austell, stuck about three feet deep in water and mud. Firefighters from St Austell and a specialist line rescue crew from Tolvaddon were called out to the scene, where they cleared vegetation from the pond’s bank before using a winch to safely rescue the horse. After the rescue, the animal was handed over to its owner and a vet for care.
Following the rescue, the fire crews remained on site for an extended period to clean and recover their equipment. The operation highlighted the coordinated effort between local fire teams and specialists to safely manage the challenging rescue.
