Firefighters from Humberside Fire and Rescue Service were praised for their heroic efforts after rescuing a shire horse that had fallen into a ditch in North Lincolnshire on the evening of September 21. Crews from Epworth and Immingham East fire stations used specialist technical rescue equipment to safely help the horse back to its feet, allowing a vet on the scene to conduct further health checks.
The incident was handed over to the vet and the horse’s owner once the animal was stabilized. The horse is now reported to be recovering well, and the firefighters received widespread appreciation from local residents on social media for their quick and skilled response.
