A firefighter in Essex rescued a hawk named Harris that had become tangled in an aerial on the roof of a house in Harlow. Concerned that the distressed bird’s owner might attempt a dangerous rescue, firefighter Harry McWilliam carefully followed the owner’s advice, using a blanket to calm Harris before safely freeing him with an aerial ladder platform.
The rescue drew a crowd of local residents, some of whom assisted by moving their cars to allow the ladder platform access. Station Manager Scott Fretton praised Harry’s calm and careful handling of the unusual animal rescue, which ended successfully with Harris safely returned to his owner.
