Fire in Warwickshire flats leaves family homeless but residents evacuated safely

A fire broke out in a flat at the Fallow Hill flats on Sydenham Drive in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, on Tuesday afternoon, leading to the evacuation of residents who were all safely unharmed. The blaze, which started in a bedroom, caused significant damage to one flat, leaving at least one family homeless and sadly resulting in the death of their pet. Emergency services, including four fire crews, responded promptly, and investigations into the fire’s cause are ongoing.

The local community has rallied to support those affected, with a fundraiser organized by a 13-year-old friend raising over £1,500 within hours. Warwick District Council has been providing displaced residents with accommodation, food, and clothing, and housing officers remain on site to assist with damage assessments and re-housing plans. Council leader Ian Davison expressed condolences to the family who lost their pet and emphasized continued collaboration with the Fire Service to repair and secure the building.
