A seven-year-old horse became trapped in thick reeds and a deep gulley filled with water along the Coast Road in Newport. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) received the call at 10:34 am on September 14, and crews from Duffryn and Ely fire stations promptly responded to free the animal.
Thanks to the calm and coordinated efforts of the firefighters, the horse was safely rescued and returned to its owner by 11:27 am. SWFRS shared the successful rescue on social media with a playful pun, receiving widespread praise for their swift and dedicated response.
