The Federal Government, through the Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, reaffirmed its commitment to exploring new economic opportunities that also enhance national security, particularly by supporting the growth of Nigeria’s horse racing industry. The Minister emphasized that modernizing this sector, including leveraging innovations like tokenization and asset monetization, aligns with Nigeria’s broader goals for economic growth, job creation, and social stability. He highlighted that economic empowerment is a crucial tool for strengthening national security and assured the Horse Racing Federation of Nigeria of the Ministry’s readiness to provide the necessary security framework to support emerging industries.
During a courtesy visit, the Chairman of the Horse Racing Federation, Alhaji Tajudeen Aminu Dantata, praised the Ministry’s reforms and expressed optimism about Nigeria’s potential to compete globally in sports and economic sectors. He linked the global economic and cultural significance of horse racing events to Nigeria’s traditions and outlined the Federation’s ambition to participate in the Dubai World Cup, aiming to boost Nigeria’s international image and support the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The Federation also expressed readiness to fund its strategic plans and looked forward to a close partnership with the Ministry to showcase Nigeria’s potential on the world stage.
