Farmer Wilson Shares Inspiring Story of Kids and Horses at Minden Rotary

Farmer Wilson, Executive Director of Kids and Horses, spoke at a recent Minden Rotary club meeting about the organization. Kids and Horses, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, provides therapeutic horsemanship services for individuals with disabilities. The organization offers a variety of programs, including Adaptive Riding, Therapeutic Riding, and Comprehensive Life Skills, among others.

Founded 25 years ago by Sam and Lorri Waldman, Kids and Horses has a dedicated staff and volunteers who work with 12 horses to provide healing benefits through equine encounters. The organization serves individuals with disabilities such as paralysis, autism, cerebral palsy, and emotional issues. New to Kids and Horses is the Memory Café, which benefits individuals suffering from memory loss and their care partners through creative workshops and interactions with horses.

Approximately 140-180 individuals are served by Kids and Horses each year. Farmer Wilson can be contacted for more information or to volunteer at [email protected] or 775-267-1775. The organization is located in the Johnson Lane area of Minden, Nevada.
