FanDuel’s decision to wind down and eventually discontinue its racing channel, FanDuel TV (formerly TVG), poses significant challenges for both its employees and the horse racing industry. The channel, which has broadcast races nationwide for over 25 years and reached around 30 million viewers, has been a vital platform for promoting horse racing and driving wagering activity. Its closure threatens to reduce handle on FanDuel’s advance-deposit wagering (ADW) sites and other platforms, potentially impacting the industry’s overall pari-mutuel betting volume, which in 2025 accounted for nearly 20% of North America’s total handle.
Beyond wagering, FanDuel TV played a key role in coordinating race schedules, covering major racing events and sales, and supporting industry charities, all of which will be lost. While FanDuel’s ADW sites will remain operational, the absence of the channel’s promotional reach may lead to decreased engagement from fans and bettors. The industry will need to explore alternative broadcast or streaming options—such as increased presence on FOX Sports, new racing channels, or digital platforms like YouTube or Netflix—to maintain visibility and wagering interest in the coming years before the channel’s planned exit in 2027.
