The town boasts significant equestrian landmarks such as the Nordrhein-Westfälische Landgestüt (North Rhine Westphalian State Stud), home to government-owned breeding stallions, and the Deutsches Reitschule (German Riding School), where young riders train to become licensed professionals. Visitors can also explore the nearby Olympic Training Center and German Equestrian Federation headquarters, witnessing top-level dressage, show jumping, and vaulting training facilities. The town itself offers charming streets lined with horse-themed statues, boutiques like Funny Horses, and local treats, creating a welcoming atmosphere for both casual visitors and dedicated equestrians.

During a recent visit, the author and her horse-enthusiast daughter Emily experienced Warendorf’s rich equestrian culture firsthand, including a guided tour of the State Stud and a ride on a family member’s sport horse along scenic trails.
