The equine therapy program at Eudora Equine, led by Steen and Nisbet, offers significant benefits for children with special needs, helping them develop essential life skills such as horse care, grooming, and respect for animals. The program serves students from eighth through 12th grade, providing therapeutic experiences through interaction with a diverse group of horses, ranging from gentle seniors like the 39-year-old Kayla to more spirited mounts suited for confident riders.
Located adjacent to the Eudora Wildlife Safari Park, the horses share their environment with exotic animals like peacocks, zebras, and giraffes, creating a unique setting for riders. Looking ahead to 2026, the operation plans to launch a safari dude ranch, allowing participants to trail-ride horses through the safari park. The program attracts riders of all ages, including those in their 60s, primarily from Lexington and Orangeburg counties, and offers year-round activities.
