Last week, ARCH (The Andalusian Rescue Centre for Horses) in Alhaurin el Grande took in three mares, two donkeys, and a mule that were confiscated from a notorious equine dealer known for repeated animal neglect. Despite extremely challenging weather conditions and stretched resources, ARCH could not turn the animals away. The dealer, who had previously evaded justice by transferring animals under different names, has now been sentenced to three years in prison following coordinated efforts by the police, The Animal Collective charity, ARCH, and an animal rights lawyer.
ARCH is urgently appealing for donations to cover the high costs of veterinary care, special diets, and additional feed needed to rehabilitate the abused animals, some of whom are in very poor condition. The rescue centre receives no government funding and even pays for transport costs, making financial support critical to their ongoing work. Donations can be made at www.horserescuespain.org/donations, and fundraisers are encouraged to help ARCH continue their vital mission.
