Equestrian Tourism in Veneto: Exploring the 266-Kilometer Horse Trail Through Vineyards and Pre-Alps

The Veneto region in Italy has launched its first officially marked horse trail, spanning 266 kilometers through the Treviso foothills, Prosecco vineyards, and the Venetian Pre-Alps. This equestrian route, promoted by the regional government and inaugurated at Fieracavalli di Verona, offers riders a unique way to explore scenic landscapes, historic villages, and panoramic views stretching from the Venetian lagoon to the Dolomites. The trail is fully georeferenced and supported by a network of services including hospitality, horse rest areas, farriers, and farmhouses, making it accessible and convenient for tourists.

This initiative, started in 2007 and involving nine municipalities and numerous local operators, aims to boost sustainable rural tourism and economic development in the area. The route caters to the growing number of nature-loving equestrian tourists who value quality stops and local cuisine. The trail is best enjoyed from late spring to late autumn, and further information is available on the Veneto tourism website. The project reflects a broader trend of increasing interest in horse-related tourism, evidenced by significant online engagement with equestrian content.
