Entries are now open for the 2025 Defender Burghley Horse Trials, scheduled for September 4–7 in Stamford, Lincolnshire. The event will feature the prestigious CCI5* competition, judged by a panel led by Andrew Bennie, with entries closing on August 12. This year’s course, designed by Derek di Grazia, will challenge riders with a reversed cross country track direction and new fences, attracting top international competitors from the UK, New Zealand, Australia, and the USA. Additionally, the Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse Finals will showcase promising four- and five-year-olds, judged by an elite panel including William Fox-Pitt.
Beyond the competitions, the event offers a rich program of education, entertainment, and shopping. Highlights include masterclasses with British dressage legend Carl Hester and Olympic medalist Tom McEwen, a special British squad dressage practice, and the popular Insights Stage featuring expert interviews. The shopping village will host 500 retailers, and the event supports the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance charity. For those unable to attend, Burghley TV will provide live streaming and feature content, with subscriptions increasing to £25 from August 1. Key dates include the entry list release on August 13 and the draw on August 19.
