The Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmed Bamalli, has urged wealthy Nigerians to invest more in horse racing, emphasizing that sports in Nigeria require increased funding beyond government efforts. Speaking at the grand finale of the Renewed Hope International Horse Racing Derby in Kaduna, he highlighted the potential of public-private partnerships to boost the sport, generate significant economic returns, and support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Bamalli stressed that investing in horse racing would create jobs, reduce youth restiveness, and promote local horse breeding, thereby decreasing reliance on expensive imports from countries like Argentina. This, he noted, would conserve foreign exchange and strengthen Nigeria’s economy.
