Emily Miles, a professional dressage rider from Kansas, has decided to put her show career on hold to pursue a medical degree. She initially studied pre-med at the University of Kansas in 2011 but chose to focus on horses instead. Emily has had success in the dressage world, representing the USA at various championships with horses like Wakeup and Weltdorff.
Throughout her career, Emily has achieved numerous national titles and competed internationally with horses supplied by Leslie Waterman. She has shown horses like Sir Sherlock, Florentienne, and Quantum Jazz, as well as Daily Show and Sole Mio at the World Young Horse Championships. Emily has also won the $25,000 Carol Lavell Advanced dressage Prize and debuted Java Dulce at Grand Prix level.
In her next chapter, Emily will be pursuing a Master’s in anaesthesia at the University of Missouri while balancing motherhood and riding. She plans to continue training her own horses and hopes to still be involved in the sport she loves. Emily’s decision to go back to school marks a significant change in her career path, but she remains dedicated to both her education and her passion for dressage.
