Emergency crews in Brooklyn, Connecticut, successfully rescued a horse named Shadow that had become stuck in ice at a private residence on Winding Road. The rescue, which occurred around 9:40 a.m., involved firefighters from the Mortlake Fire Company and Pomfret, as well as town public works staff, who used large animal rescue straps to lift the horse back onto its feet.
Veterinarians from Tufts Hospital for Large Animals also responded to assess Shadow’s condition. The fire company reported a positive outcome, with Shadow safely back on its feet and happily roaming his pasture following the rescue.
